Today was just about the most perfect day ever. I think spring is finally here. This morning after I dropped the kids off at school, I was walking into the house and bent over to pull a few weeds out of my front flower bed. Next thing I knew, an hour and a half had passed and it was 9:30. I managed to get the beds looking pretty good and had a HUGE lawn bag full of weeds and leaves when I finished. By that time the grass seemed dry enough to mow, so I jumped on the mower and did that, followed by weed-eating. Basically I had the yard all ship-shape by noon. After that, I contemplated going into town to Lowe's to buy mulch for the flower beds and a new automatic garage door opener, but opted to sit out on the front porch in my rocking chair, sipping iced tea and reading my book.
The kids got home from school and Thomas asked if I'd take him up to the school to the track meet. We had our big invitational meet today. It was such a perfect day that Thomas, Mia and I all went up there at around 5:00 and stayed about 3 hours. I think that was the first track meet I'd ever actually sat down and watched. It was fun, and of course I had my camera with me...don't go anywhere without it, and got some great shots of Jonathon (my nephew for my readers who don't know him.) Last year for this track meet, I worked in the concession stand the whole time and didn't get to watch any of the meet. It was freezing cold and drizzly last year.
Mia wanted to go over to the soccer field to "practice" after we left the meet, so we did. Thomas worked with her a little bit and we headed over to Amy's for a visit after that.
Tomorrow is our girls day in St. Louis. Syd thought she wasn't going to get to go, as she had been assigned to be "on-call" at the store tomorrow and her manager told her that since we are having our city-wide garage sale, she'd probably be needed. Luckily, one of her co-workers agreed to cover her call for her. I imagine that lots of hungry garage salers will want Subway tomorrow.
I'm off to bed now. I'm sure I'll be SORE in the morning from all the yard work today. Won't stop me from enjoying the shopping, though!!
