My lovely 17 year old calls me from the pool today at 1:00. "Mom, can we have a BBQ tonight?" She wanted to have 6 friends over for a BBQ/swim party. I look at the clock, calculating how quickly I can whip the house into shape, get to the store, prepare food, etc. "Sure!" I say. She told me all I had to provide was burgers, dogs, a cheese ball, and my taco layer dip that they LOVE....they would get everything else. Mia and I jumped in the car and headed to Walmart where we picked up all the necessities. And, since we haven't yet celebrated Sydney's birthday which was July 1st, the day after we got home from Florida, I picked up a birthday cake as well.

Promptly at 7:oo, friends arrived, bringing soda, treats, chips, etc. Sydney and Haley had decorated the deck and the patio table/umbrella with white Christmas lights. They ate, then after a quick road trip to a "haunted house" near the river bottoms, they came back to enjoy cake.
