Pig flu

has struck another member of the Blanchard household. Mr. Thomas was home today for day 3 and will be home again tomorrow, too.

I took him to Dr. Harris on Monday for a sports physical/ill visit. Though Dr. Harris didn't do a swab, he diagnosed him with swine influenza. Last night I thought he was doing better, had perked up a bit, and was acting like he felt better. This morning he got up and showered, but when I got up, I could tell he wasn't completely well. He still had a temperature of 99.9, and didn't argue with me when I tucked him back into bed. His is having a lot of back pain as well.

He slept until about 11 and pretty much rested today, playing on the computer a little. This evening his temperature is back up to 100, and he went to bed at 8:00. Poor little guy.

Monday was the start of 8th grade basketball "tryouts." He was so upset this morning about having to miss school/practice again that he asked me to email Coach Randall. She was very understanding and said she would be extending evaluations through next week, as there are several kids out with illness. Told me to tell him not to worry about it and to get better and she'd see him when he was well. Thomas was so relieved to hear that. His heart would break if he couldn't play basketball this season.

I'm praying I don't get what the kids have had, but something tells me it is inevitable. Blah.
