I was signed up for an extra shift tonight, but was called at 5:30 and put on call. Good for me, because I don't have to stay up all night, but bad because the extra $$ would have been great. The night is young, though....I still might get called in if they get busy. Congratulations to this goofy looking boy. Both Saturday and Sunday he was in soccer referee class from 8-5 and today they took the test at the end of class. He scored 89!! I believe his words were, "I OWNED that test." We need to submit his availability to the Columbia Soccer Club and the Ashland Optimists and then he can start reffing and earning some $$$. We have to get his referee jersey, whistle, etc., too. Good job, T!! This is the pool that NO ONE has been in for 2 weeks because it's been too cold! It's August in Missouri, for Pete's sake!! I've had windows open, which is just unheard of for a Missouri August. Hopefully it will warm up some in the next few weeks so we can enjoy the pool before school starts.
I have a former co-worker who goes to Amish country a lot during the summer, and she always knows that I'll want her to get sweet corn for me. Her name is Karen Quisenberry, and to most she is known as "Quiz." We fondly refer to the corn as "Quiz corn." Amish sweet corn is absolutely the BEST. It is so good that my kids even know the difference when I try to pass other types of corn on the cob off on them if we run out of "Quiz corn." I could seriously make a meal out of it. In fact, Mia and I did just that yesterday for lunch. It just isn't summer until we have "Quiz corn." She brought me 5 dozen ears Friday, and Mia and I shucked it all and froze it. Seriously....I'm going to go make some now.
