I got busted. She found my layouts that I had done in my craft room (which is really a walk-in closet converted into a craft space.) I thought I had it all put away and that my secret was safe. Through HUGE crocodile tears, she asked me why I didn't take her. Oh my. My heart was breaking for her as I explained that I needed a "mommy day" and that someday when she had children she would understand. I learned my lesson. I feel just terrible about it. She reads this blog. I'm SO SORRY MIA!! I love you baby girl.
We hosted the soccer team this evening for a pool party/picnic. It was a huge success. Thanks to everyone for contributing to the meal. If anyone went away hungry, it was his/her own fault, because we had tons of food. The way the temperatures have been lately, I was afraid no one would want to swim, but there were a few that did. I think the water was about 77 degrees.
It was a perfect evening to sit outside on the deck and enjoy each other's company.

Umm... a scrapbooking conference? Yah. That's what it was. That's the story.
I totally get that needing a little time away thing, and the accompanying guilt. Poor Annette and poor Mia!!!
Good for you, for scrapbooking! I've never done it... and I'm going to, one day, print a blog book, but I'll have to edit out all of the colorful language and embarassing tidbits, first. That will take some time. Maybe I'll finish that when the kids are out of the house... in 18+ years.
Wishing the weather would warm up, for some better pool time!
