So, my brilliant idea didn't work after all. The tree was still too heavy to be held up by my dishpan/concrete set-up. I was putting the VERY LAST branch back on...and craaaaccckkkkk.....the tree started to fall. I was soooo frustrated...started tearing limbs off, tossing them across the room. Went out to the garage, got the Christmas tree box, and Sydney helped me put all the limbs, etc, in the box, getting it ready as a great big present for the garbage man today. This all happened about an hour before Sydney and I had to leave to go to the Missouri Theater for the Moscow Ballet production of The Nutcracker. We left the house in a mess...got ready and went first to dinner at Red Lobster, and then to the ballet, which was wonderful.
I had a smaller pre-lit tree that I have been using in my bedroom, so we are using that one instead in the living room. And to be perfectly honest....I like it! It doesn't take up NEARLY as much room...is MUCH easier to assemble and is really pretty. The trash man hauled off the other tree this morning....concrete dishpan and all. Good riddance.
Last night Thomas' team played for consolation in the Columbia 7th grade tournament. We played Harrisburg, who beat us SO badly...by like 30 points when we played them last time. I thought we were in for another game like that...but they only beat us by 7! It was really a great game...our boys were really "on." I don't think Harrisburg expected to have to work quite so hard last night.
Today I'm fighting a cold. Got home from taking the kids to school this morning and took some cold medicine and went back to bed. I didn't sleep well last night because I couldn't breath. Think I caught up this morning, though.
I work this weekend. Tomorrow night is our Maternal/Child Health Christmas party. I'll make an appearance after my shift. Hopefully we'll have a nice quiet weekend at the hospital.
