Sometimes it seems like 3 against 1 in my house. Don't get me wrong, I love my children so much it makes my heart hurt. But why, oh why do they do what they do? Maybe I'm premenstrual or something, but several have come to mind.
1. Why do they insist on leaving empty toilet paper rolls on their bathroom sink? Granted, they are pretty good about putting a new roll on, but the empty?...on the sink. THE TRASH CAN IS JUST A TOSS AWAY!! Perhaps they think I'm collecting them for an art project? Perhaps I'll save a bunch, make a big, ugly "sculpture" out of them and put it in the living room for them to enjoy.
2. Why do I find clothes in the laundry baskets that I know have not been worn? Just because you tried it on and decided not to wear it, does not mean it's dirty. I have enough laundry to do without washing CLEAN things as well.
3. Why can't they ever find anything, and why do they automatically think I keep track of everything they own, and can find things faster than they can? Nice thought, but I don't have that super power.
4. And the pantry...I go to the pantry, in search of something sweet. Mmmm, Little Debbie something or other sounds good...there's the box....AAAGGGHHHHHHH....it's empty. Solution...my own stash, in a secret place.
5. Cereal bowls are one of my "favorites." Nothing I love better than coming home after a 12 hour shift, to find 2 or 3 cereal bowls sitting around. Even better is finding one that is more than a day old...with congealed milk and Cheerios in it. Now that....I love. NOT.
5. Anyone care to buy some shoes? I've got a whole selection at the entrance to my living room. Take your pick...I've got tennis shoes, casual shoes, flip flops, soccer cleats...whatever you need.
6. And surely you'll need socks to go with your shoes. They are scattered all about the house. And they wonder why they never have clean socks....
7. Don't even ASK about my girls' room. How do they live in there? I just don't understand. I have to walk by there with blinders on.
So I rant. But, I wouldn't trade these amazing kids for anything in the world. They make me smile every day. My heart lights up every time I see them. They make me laugh....sometimes hysterically. I know the day will come when my nest will be empty and I'll yearn to find a dirty dish in the living room, or to hear, "Mom, where's my black leotard?" I have truly been blessed and I thank God every day for these 3 precious gifts.
