Summer is drawing to a close....

Where has the summer gone? The kids go back to school this Wednesday. I am amazed at how quickly time goes by. Sydney is a SENIOR! It's hard for me to believe. It seems like only yesterday I was looking at her, sleeping on her tummy in her crib, and I actually started crying when I thought about sending her to kindergarten!

We went to a Senior Parent meeting this past week. Senior year will be a whirl-wind of deadlines for college applications, scholarship applications, etc. It is a bit overwhelming, but I remind myself that thousands of parents and seniors have survived the senior year. Sydney will be getting out of class at 12:40 every day, and is doing work/study. We went yesterday and got an application for the new Baskin Robbins/Subway that is opening in Sept. The job she currently has might not be able to give her the 20 hours per week that she needs. She only works 10 hours a week at the local gym. It'll be great if she gets hired here, since she won't have to use so much gas to drive to Columbia. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Mia asked, "Does this mean we get free ice cream if Sydney works at Baskin Robbins?" She thought that sounded reasonable, since her cousin works at the movie theater, and their family gets to see movies for free. I reminded her that just because I work in a hospital, we don't get free health care. Wouldn't THAT be nice?

Mia has been stung by the cleaning bug. Last night she was down on all fours, scrubbing the kitchen floor "the old-fashioned way" as she put it. Today she completely cleaned the kitchen and folded laundry. What a big help she is.

Thomas has gone to Six Flags today with his friend Nate, and some other friends. Nate's dad took them for Nate's 13th birthay. Thomas was a bit nervous to go, he's not too crazy about a lot of the rides, but hopefully he'll have a good time. I don't like rollercoasters myself, but told him there would be a lot of stuff he could ride. Didn't want him to miss out on this trip with his friends.

Am picking up an agency shift at Callaway tonight. I need to get in a nap. It's been a while since I've worked a night shift. I was happy to get the hours...we have dual credit tuition due at the end of the week, so the $$ will be put to good use.
