An Early Christmas

Since I was scheduled to work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the weekend after, we decided to open presents on the evening of the 22nd. Thomas' orthodontist appointment to get his braces put on was at 8:40 on the 23rd and he was convinced it was going to be the "worst day of my life, Mom" so we did our Christmas early.

I had gone to a matinee and dinner with my friends Anne and Shannon, so, needless to say, my cell phone was about to blow up with all the calls (I didn't answer) wanting to know when I was going to be home. The kids were quite anxious to open their gifts. I got home around 8:30 I think and we opened gifts.

The kids were passing out the gifts, putting them in their respective piles while I set up the tripod for a family photo by the tree. Once they started opening gifts, I noticed Thomas had opened SYDNEY's iPod Touch. He was very excited for the 2.4 seconds he thought he had gotten an iPod Touch. I quickly said, "That's not yours" and the disappointment on his face.....geez. So, to quickly remedy the problem, I picked up the package with his new cell phone in it, and handed it to him, saying, "This will make you feel better." He quickly got over NOT getting the iTouch. Let's just say he was thrilled to get his phone.
The funniest part of the whole present opening thing, was how THRILLED Mia was with her very own Teen Spirit deodorant that Santa had put in her stocking. She's been asking for deodorant for months...not that she needs it. Funny how just the simplest things make them the happiest sometimes.
Our family photo by the tree isn't the best, but you get the idea.
