So the first day of school was great. Even Thomas announced, "I had a great day." Mia is thrilled with her new teacher and proclaimed, "I LOVE school." Great way to start the new year. We celebrated with ice cream treats from McDonald's last night.
The night before school started, Mia was looking through her clothes, trying to decide what to wear. She pulled out a pink tank top and asked, "Will I look like a prostitute if I wear this tomorrow?"
What? Is that the look she's going for?!? It totally struck me as hysterical, and I couldn't stop laughing. That was the last thing I expected to come out of her 10 year old mouth. She got really aggrevated with me for laughing, but I couldn't help it. Mind you, I had just completed my fourth 12 hour shift in a row, and was slap-happy. EVERYTHING is funny when you are that tired. Poor thing. I had to explain to her that I wasn't laughing "at" her (was I?), but that it just struck me as sooo funny. I suppose I should be glad that she is thinking along those lines...worried about how she'll look, and maintaining some modesty. Bless her heart.
I'm working an extra shift tonight. I've been trying to pick up an extra shift every couple of weeks to cushion the ol' paycheck. It's kind of a nice change to work the night shift. Hopefully day shift today will get all the babies delivered and it will be a pretty quiet night.
I'm off to Old Navy this morning. Saw an ad on TV last night about kids jeans on sale for $10 a pair. Thought I'd go check it out. Thomas only has 2 pairs of Levi's that fit, and I'm afraid Mia will need some, too. Her legs seem to have gotten a lot longer this summer. Wish me luck....without the kids with me, I'll just hope what I bring home fits them.
