My calendar says it's spring. What the heck? Then why did we freeze our tails off last night at Mia's soccer game? It should not be that cold on April 7th. It took forever to thaw myself out last night when we got home. I was still cold when I went to bed....with GLOVES on, because my hands were still cold. Soon enough, it will be warmer, and then it will be summer, and I'll be griping about the heat.
Sydney and I are going to continue the search for the prom dress after she gets home from school today. We went to St. Louis during spring break week, and came back without a dress, if you can believe that. I keep reminding myself that it's this way every time we shop for the perfect dress. She has in her head what she wants, and until she finds it, she'll keep looking. Ah, the joys of teenaged daughters. Mia's comment, as Sydney was in a dressing room trying on dresses, was, "Mom. What is her problem? If I was shopping for a dress we would already be done and out of here." I'll remind her of that statement when SHE is 17 and looking for her prom dress. I asked Sydney why she just didn't wear the one she wore freshman year? Evidently that is just not done, and she looked at me like I had 2 heads. I wore the same dress my sophomore and senior years to prom. I loved that dress so much.
I'm going to call today and make a consultation appointment with an orthodontist for Thomas. We managed get one kid with perfect teeth...Sydney. Thomas and Mia are a different story. Thomas isn't thrilled with the idea, but he realizes the need. He said, "Let's get them on and get it over with."
I agreed, in a moment of weakness, to let Mia invite 8 little girls to her birthday party/sleepover. She just couldn't narrow the field enough, so I caved. I remember back to the great slumper parties I had as a "tween." They were so much fun. BUT, I lived in a great big house and we basically took over the downstairs and my parents/siblings could stay upstairs and not have to listen to us. Hopefully the weather will be nice and they can spend a lot of time outside.
