We are fully back into the swing of things with school. I am enjoying Sydney coming home at noon time....we get to eat lunch together and everything. She, after the first few times she came home, said she felt like she was doing something wrong.
Thomas has decided to run cross-country, so he has been staying after school every day to run. We got two new pairs of shoes last week...one for every day and one for cross country. As I mentioned in my previous post, he is easy when it comes to shopping for clothes, but shoes...that's a different story. Luckily, the first store we went to, Kids FootLocker, had what he was looking for. He has also started back to soccer practice after a short break following the Show Me Games. Pretty soon I guess he will be trying out for the middle school basketball team.
Mia is enjoying 4th grade and seems to really like her teacher. She has said a few times, "Fourth grade is so hard." I got her signed up for soccer again for the fall. She's looking forward to that, but is more looking forward to starting dance after Labor Day. She will be going on Saturdays. Sydney will be going on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We are gearing up for Eagle football. I will miss not seeing Sydney cheer, but just love the cool evenings, the AWESOME "football food," and the spirit of Southern Boone Football. Sydney and some of her friends have been busily making "crazed fan" t-shirts to wear to the games. Our home opener is a week from Friday.
I'm off to Kansas City with the science kids on Wednesday to attend the Body Worlds 3 exhibit again. I attended last year as a chaperone and was invited back by Sydney's Anatomy teacher. I'm not looking forward to the long bus ride (bus seats are SO uncomfortable), but I did enjoy the exhibit a lot and am glad to go again. This could be my last field trip with my senior!!
I've almost finished reading "Gone with the Wind." I decided, that at the age of 43, it's high time to read this classic, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm going to try to read some more classics. I remember that I loved "To Kill a Mockingbird" when we read it in high school, so I may read that again. Dare I attempt "War and Peace?" NOT.
I was excited to hear the new cast members of Dancing with the Stars Season 7!! I know, I know, I'm a geek, but I LOVE that show. Can't wait for the first show!
